Energy-saving strategy solutions – ISO 50001 energy management system

2025/02/25

Global warming and climate change are two pressing environmental problems facing the world today. The primary cause of these problems is the emission of greenhouse gases (such as carbon dioxide and methane) by human activities. Therefore, reducing greenhouse gas emissions has become a crucial issue for sustainable development in recent years. The National Development Council (NDC) of Taiwan’s major policy, “Twelve Key Strategies – Energy Conservation Strategies – Outline of Taiwan’s 2050 Net-Zero Emissions Path and Strategy,” is one of the policies that the Taiwanese government requires domestic enterprises to cooperate with the national net-zero transition.

ISO 5001 Energy Management System (EMS) is a well-known international standard designed to help businesses and organizations effectively manage and reduce energy consumption and improve energy efficiency. This standard provides a framework that incorporates the PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) process, enabling companies to more systematically plan, implement, monitor, and improve various energy management activities according to their own needs, thereby reducing costs, carbon emissions, and enhancing competitiveness. For example, companies can define key internal and external issues based on their needs, and use these issues to plan energy policies, conduct energy reviews, identify all energy types, assess past and present energy use and consumption to establish energy baselines, prioritize energy performance improvements, propose action plans, set achievable energy-saving targets, and continuously monitor and improve. These constitute the main operating procedures (SOPs) of ISO 50001.

To meet ISO 50001 requirements, not only is assistance from professionals compliant with ISO 50001 standards necessary, but also the use of an ISO 50001 software system is required to efficiently assist clients in pre-operation preparation, on-site testing, analysis, results compilation, and dissemination.

Yuchen Systems Technology has developed the  EMS-ISO 50001 software system , which has been implemented in well-known semiconductor companies to help them achieve visualized energy management goals. This system not only supports customers in implementing the ISO 50001 standard, but also leverages the company’s expertise in IT system integration and OT (Operational Technology) operations to apply smart energy technologies, assisting Taiwan’s energy-intensive industries in addressing energy management challenges and enhancing their competitiveness.
In the future, through a collaboration with National Changhua University of Education, Yuchen will focus on developing AI technology capable of accurately predicting power load. This technology, through the collection of electricity consumption data and deep learning analysis, provides power consumption predictions, equipment lifespan estimates, and microgrid scheduling suggestions, helping customers optimize energy efficiency and reduce waste. Furthermore, the system will present a combined analysis and real-time observation of the entire plant’s energy usage in charts, confirming the achievement of energy-saving rates, allowing customers to accurately grasp their energy status, and becoming the smart hub for their energy management.
