Course Overview：

Human-Machine Interfaces (HMI) are widely used in automation across manufacturing, electronics, and various industrial fields. As technology advances, programmable controllers and HMI hardware continue to evolve, enabling increasingly complex automation control and options.

To accelerate system development, Rockwell’s FactoryTalk View Studio software platform integrates hardware and software for AB PanelView HMIs and AB PLC series products, supporting compilation and design of HMI functions. The current version is 11.0, now integrated into the Studio 5000 suite.

FactoryTalk View Studio is divided into two major editions:

• Machine Edition (ME): Panel-based HMI
• Site Edition (SE): Scalable PC-based HMI

In this training course, we will use the Machine Edition to create a new FactoryTalk View project, perform real interface validation, and become familiar with the operation interface and object properties. The Site Edition (SE) allows direct mapping of PLC Tags to HMI Tags, with PLC Alarms directly imported into FactoryTalk View.

During the course, participants will:

• Configure an HMI server to build projects.
• Use RSLinx Enterprise to communicate with CompactLogix or ControlLogix PLCs, retrieving I/O Tag data for HMI output.
• Set up a Tag Alarm Server to define alarm conditions for specific events.
• Create Trend Charts to track analog or digital signals over time and stream input data for monitoring.
• Finally, integrate these functions into a new FactoryTalk View mini-project and simulate operations directly on a computer.
