What to Do If You Are Diagnosed with COVID-19

• Most COVID-19 cases are mild and can recover with rest at home. To reserve medical resources for severe cases, please stay at home and wait for notification from public health authorities.
• Stay in a separate room by yourself. Use a different bathroom from family members if possible, and do not leave your room.
• Avoid contact with other household members, especially the elderly, children, or those with weakened immune systems.
• Always wear a mask and practice hand hygiene (wash with soap and water or use alcohol-based sanitizer).
• If you develop a fever, you may take fever-reducing medication to ease discomfort. Rest in bed and drink plenty of fluids.
• Monitor your symptoms closely. If you experience any of the following, immediately notify your local health bureau or call 119 for medical assistance. Use an ambulance as the primary option, or a designated epidemic-prevention taxi, household member, or self-transport (walking, driving, or riding) as secondary options:
  • Shortness of breath
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Persistent chest pain or tightness
  • Confusion or loss of consciousness
  • Bluish skin, lips, or nail beds
• Have family members prepare food and water for you. Do not share meals or household items with others.
• Clean frequently touched surfaces with diluted bleach or alcohol.
• Contact your close contacts (those who had meals with you, lived together, or had face-to-face contact without masks for more than 15 minutes from two days before symptom onset until isolation). Advise them to self-isolate and monitor their health.
• While waiting for instructions from public health authorities, if you must leave your room or residence due to emergencies (such as fire, earthquake, or urgent medical needs), you will not be penalized. However, you must wear a mask, promptly contact your local government or call 1922, and follow their instructions.
